چکیده

In these methods, the response of the test organism to graded concentrations of the substance being assayed is determined, after a suitable incubation period, by measurement of the amount of growth in terms of dry cell weight. Under the conditions of assay, this weight is proportional to the concentration of the limiting factor. By comparing the response of the test organism to the sample being assayed with that of the same organism to a known standard preparation, the potency of the sample may be determined.

Microbiological Process

Analytical microbiology may be defined as that branch of microbiology in which microorganisms are used as reagents for the quantitative determination of certain chemical compounds. The procedures used for analysis are based on the reaction of a particular microorganism to its environment. If a suitable microorganism will react with a measurable response to a certain chemical entity, an analytic...

Evaluation of the stability of iron(II) solutions by precise coulometric titration with electrogenerated cerium(IV).

An iron(II) solution is often used as a reducing agent in titrimetry and standardized with cerium(IV) or potassium dichromate. Such an iron(II) standard solution is needed for not only titrimetric analyses, but also instrumental ones. Iron(II) is unstable even in a highly acidic solution, mainly due to air-oxidation; therefore, its standardization is required before use. In the present study...

Determination of the Purity of Nicotine and Nicotine Salts by Gravimetric Analysis - Tungstosilicic Acid Method

Several methods for checking the purity of nicotine used to calibrate analytical methods have been suggested since the 1920's. At that time the gravimetric method using picric acid was considered the most specific method while that employing tungstosilicic acid was considered most sensitive. However, neither method could be considered completely specific. Since the 1960's, the most commonly use...

What is the weighing form in gravimetric determination of antimony(III) with oxine?

The gravimetric analysis of antimony(III) with oxine (8-quinolinol, Hox) was studied. The amount of antimony left in filtrate and washing solutions was corrected with the results of atomic absorption spectrometry. The weighing form, which had not been conclusive before the present study, was determined to be SbO(ox)(Hox)2. The result (purity of antimony(II) oxide: 99.84 +/- 0.05% (m/m)) of the ...

Gravimetric and Spectrophotometric Methods for the Determination of Piperazine. Picrolonic vs. Picric Acid

In the present work two new analytical methods, a gravimetric and a spectrophotometric, for the assay of piperazine free base and its soluble salts in the anthelmitic preparation "Oxyuran", are described. Both approaches are based on the quantitative reaction between the diprotonated cationic form of piperazine and the 3-methyl-4-nitro-1-p-nitrophenyl-5-pyrazolone (picrolonic acid), in sulfuric...
